PCs 'need protection from cybercriminals'
Personal computers need to have data security software installed and be fully firewalled against malware in order to provide security for personal and confidential files, it has been claimed.
Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online, said fraud is an increasingly lucrative area for cybercriminals to focus on and as such, it is important people safeguard their details at all costs.
He commented: "One of the most important things to do is to protect your investments. Protect your PC. Make sure you have anti-virus, spyware, that you enable your updates on both your operating system and your applications."
According to research carried out by Deloitte, cyber attacks and security breaches are increasing in frequency and sophistication, with discovery usually occurring only after the event, if at all.
The report warned that cybercriminals are leveraging innovation at a pace which many target organisations and security vendors cannot possibly match.
