IT outsourcing "to pick up"The end of the recession in the UK is likely to herald an increase in IT outsourcing for firms across the country, it has been claimed.Patrick O'Brien, senior analyst at Ovum, said as IT budgets increase during 2010 for the first time since the onset of the global economic downturn, the UK sector looks set to benefit greatly as businesses update their IT infrastructure. He commented: "We saw quite a significant slowdown in contract signings in 2009 and it's only recently that we've seen positive news coming from major vendors." Mr O'Brien added the fact outsourcing is predominantly about cost-cutting will mean many firms will look to make use of this service in the months ahead. According to the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, companies are predicted to increasingly make use of advanced management practices, tools and technologies - such as Object-Relational Mapping and cloud computing - to provide improved value and operational flexibility and performance this year. ![]() |
