Cloud computing: More widely understoodIndividuals working in business IT departments are demonstrating a better understanding of cloud computing than ever before, it has been claimed.Rob Lovell, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, said adoption of the technology has increased six-fold in comparison to the uptake of more traditional IT infrastructure and this has allowed more people to gain an insight into the benefits it can offer. He commented: "The acceleration now of people understanding it is getting more pervasive. There's still so, so far to go but we've got the momentum starting to build now." Mr Lovell added marketing cloud computing as an alternative way to set up IT infrastructure has helped boost its prominence in recent months. According to IT consulting and research firm Everest, cloud computing as an IT outsourcing strategy presents a viable business case for companies with traditional enterprise platforms. The firm noted a buyer's investment in cloud infrastructure can help them save between 40 and 50 per cent over a traditional enterprise platform. ![]() |
