Super-fast broadband 'could aid business'Companies could benefit from the introduction of super-fast broadband services to employ new services and data management techniques, it has been claimed.Paul Richens, proposition manager at Eclipse Internet, said the government should focus on ensuring every part of the country has access to high-speed internet services, but having super-fast access for firms could open new IT options that are simply unfeasible given the present level of technological development in the UK. He commented: "Faster broadband will allow companies to access a whole new range of online services and applications that the average UK business simply doesnt have the bandwidth for yet." According to the Department for Business Innovation & Skills, Broadband Delivery UK will deliver next generation broadband to 90 per cent of the country by 2017. The initiative is set to cost £1 billion, but could drive forward the universal service commitment to deliver 2Mbps to every household by 2012. ![]() |
