Network configs 'holding back virtualisation'A recent survey has shown 90 per cent of IT professionals feel network configuration issues are hindered their employment of virtualisation technology.Computing.co.uk reported the study carried out by IT services company Computacenter highlighted how performance issues in data centre setups can impact on the uptake of new tecghnologies and hinder proper function. Colin Williams, networking and security practice leader at Computacenter, told the publication: "If you do not understand and apply real network data path and point-to-point communications, you can quickly come up against bottlenecks you did not know existed." Elsewhere, AsiaOne Business recently reported businesses should be aware of the "quirks" of virtualisation and cloud computing systems before embracing these forms of IT infrastructure. The online publication claimed many companies have made the switch to these forms of data management in recent months and are only now understanding the scale of the task that confronts them in implementing these technologies. ![]() |
