Cloud computing 'to create revolution'Cloud computing will herald a revolution in the way operations are carried out within an enterprise, it has been claimed.CIO.co.uk reported scalability will be one of the key areas where companies can benefit from the uptake of cloud technology. Indeed, in the future, when businesses require additional computing power or servers storage space they will be able to requisition these needs from their cloud provider, creating a more efficient and cost-friendly approach to upgrading IT infrastructure. The publication noted: "This is the vision that many find so tantalizing, given today's lengthy provisioning cycle, which in many companies results in months-long gaps between request and resource availability." Elsewhere, Silicon Republic recently reported a white paper has been released to discuss the impact of cloud computing on businesses across the UK. Entitled Cloud Business, the paper was created in response to research carried out by the Irish Internet Association which showed that 54 per cent of IT professionals do not have a clear understanding of the technology. ![]() |
