Virtualisation 'could benefit businesses'
Companies could benefit from the uptake of next-generation IT infrastructure - such as virtualisation - following the end of the recession in the UK, it has been claimed.
A report by Gartner has revealed that many businesses have incorporated the use of virtualisation technology into their post-recession business strategies in order to benefit from the cost-saving measures this technology brings.
Jorge Lopez, vice-president and analyst at Gartner, added: "[Chief information officers] should build an IT culture of intolerance toward inefficiency and impatience for the gains from newer, lighter-weight technologies such as social networking, virtualisation and mobile device apps."
Indeed, the report claimed companies are presently gearing up to embrace virtualisation in a big way.
Elsewhere, Owen Cole, UK & Ireland technical director for F5 Networks, recently stated in a blog post for Security Park that cloud computing and virtualisation technology offer many advantages to businesses but firms still need to ensure they are using the right IT infrastructure to fulfil their needs.
