Data security 'must focus on critical paths'Businesses must ensure they focus on "critical paths" in order to avoid infection from trojan viruses, it has been stated.Amit Klein, chief technology officer of Trusteer, said the fight against malware is a tricky one at the best of times, but the introduction of a significant number of trojan viruses in recent months has meant IT security professionals are now having to implement antivirus systems to monitor network paths more closely. "Look at the big picture and try to put as many trojan containment products as possible into the various places on the critical paths that the trojan refers to from the outer world to the final payload," he commented. Meanwhile, the latest malware threats report from Sunbelt Software showed that trojan horse programs continued to dominate the list. It noted that seven of the top ten are explicitly described as trojan programs, with the major item for March was a virus named Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT. This infection cornered 31.07 per cent of the malware market. ![]() |
