Microsoft SharePoint 2010 launch announcedThe launch of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 on May 12th is to coincide with a live keynote address from Stephen Elop, president of the Microsoft Business Division.A post on the Microsoft SharePoint Team Blog explains that Mr Elop is to cover issues relating to end-user productivity, IT flexibility and development potential in a live broadcast starting at 08:00 PST or 11:00 EST (16:00 BST). In the days leading up to the launch, anyone who wants to watch the live launch presentation can download a Microsoft widget in order to do so. As well as detailing the release of Microsoft SharePoint 2010, May 12th is due to see Microsoft Office 2010 officially launched as well. Previews of the new suite suggest that the changes made between Office 2003 and 2007 - such as the addition of the Office button and ribbon, rather than conventional menus - are to continue with more flexibility to modify menu tabs. Collaboration on documents is also due to be enhanced, allowing multiple users to edit Microsoft Word documents online without their changes conflicting with one another. ![]() |
