Businesses 'must protect against exploits'Wireless networks have become increasingly insecure in recent years and businesses have been told they should ensure they use a layered security approach.Simon Pamplin, systems engineer pre-sales manager for UK and Ireland for Brocade, said companies can better protect themselves by using multiple access points and stronger verification. He commented: "You need firewall identification, the identification of rogue access points, and you layer on top access controls such as radio syndication and VPN tunnelling between points." Mr Pamplin stated malicious internet applications have become a growing problem for firms in recent years. According to research by Symantec, malicious activity is beginning to take root in countries with emerging broadband infrastructures, such as Brazil, India, Poland, Vietnam and Russia. Furthermore, the company revealed an increase in spam emails of 88 per cent during 2009. ![]() |
