Disaster recovery capabilities 'more affordable for small firms'High-quality disaster recovery capabilities are becoming increasingly common in small firms, it has been claimed.Writing for InformationWeek, Behzad Behtash said companies are now keen to have contingency measures in place that can respond within minutes and hours rather than days. He noted that while large corporations have been able to replicate data locally or across wide-area networks to a disaster recovery site for years, less-sizable operations are now doing the same. "[A] higher level of protection is increasingly affordable and accessible to more companies," Mr Behtash explained. "It's now well within the reach of small businesses." This industry trend has been facilitated by the introduction of cheaper initial costs for hardware, services and software, the expert noted, adding that efficiencies regarding data transfer have also helped. Daragh O'Brien, a member of the International Association for Information and Data Quality, recently stated that data accuracy is particularly important for small firms. ![]() |
