IDC report shows cloud growthIDC has reported that cloud computing continues to gain popularity with businesses around the world.Chris Morris, research director for cloud technologies and services at IDC Asia/Pacific, said cloud solutions like Software-as-a-Service are gaining momentum with firms looking to manage their IT infrastructure more closely and to cut back on costs. Indeed, he expected managed hosting to account for ten per cent of IT spending in the region within the next four years. He commented: "During this period, the compound annual growth rate for public cloud spending is predicted to be four times greater than on-premise/traditional IT in the region." Elsewhere, Martin Veitch recently wrote in an article for CIO UK that announced cuts to public spending could be good news for cloud computing providers, as thousands of UK organisations will now be looking to cut costs and this could mean investment in the technology. ![]() |
