Cloud desktops 'adequate for needs'Business leaders looking to streamline their IT infrastructure have been advised that a cloud-based desktop could be adequate to meet the needs of most workers.Ben Camm-Jones, news editor of Web User magazine, said the launch of Google's Chrome OS could be an excellent choice for companies that wish to make data management simpler for staff, as it takes all its systems from a central hub and does not need software installations on individual PCs. "There's not much that we can't do with online services these days - create and edit documents, store large files, access multimedia content and information - so most users would find a cloud-dependent desktop adequate for their needs," he commented. According to the Financial Times, Google is allegedly moving employees away from Windows computers. The publication stated that the firm is shifting to Linux and Mac - and in some cases Chrome OS - as alternative operating systems. ![]() |
