Cloud computing 'must be better'Cloud computing still has a long way to go before it offers the ultimate IT infrastructure solution to meet the needs of businesses, it has been claimed. The Manila Bulletin reported that reliability and dependability are the two main areas where improvements need to be made in the future to make cloud computing a viable way of managing company data needs. Indeed, the cloud as it stands today offers considerable promise for the future, but its lack of testing within the real world business environment means that it could be some time yet before it becomes the mainstay of all IT infrastructure. Elsewhere, the Web Host Industry Review reported that research carried out by Verio recently showed that 30 per cent of small to medium-sized business (SMB) decision makers would implement this technology during the coming year. Industry expert David Hamilton wrote: "SMBs would like to benefit from shared and on-demand resources, yet few understand the benefits of cloud-based solutions." ![]() |
