Avoid duplication 'to maintain data consistency'

Companies have been advised that they should look to streamline their data profiles in order to ensure information is both secure and accessible.

Tom Wickham-Jones, director of kernel technology at Wolfram Research, said internal data should be protected at all times. However, dissemination within a business should be widespread in order to allow the consumer to get the best service possible.

He commented: "Internal data is very often private and businesses' data can contain information on customers, such as user profiles and history."

According to Zycko, virtualisation can aid organisations during data migration, as it means that there is no set time limit on the transfer process.
