Mobile malware 'a growing threat'The increase in malware for mobile applications is continuing to gather pace and therefore companies must keep abreast of developments in this area, it has been stated.Alex Donnelly, a portfolio manager at Damovo UK, said businesses should be aware of the security risks surrounding mobile devices, as the development of malware for the technology is beginning to reach levels that could cause significant harm to business continuity. He commented: "The threat is becoming increasingly serious. If a worm is able to propagate into the corporate network, much more damage could be done. This is where mobile device management can be utilised to minimise the risk." According to figures from Damovo UK, 55 per cent of IT directors in response to a recent survey said that mobile social networking was the biggest threat to security, followed by mobile pornography (30 per cent), mobile gaming (eight per cent) and mobile TV (seven per cent). ![]() |
