Microsoft SharePoint 'a hot topic for ECM'Microsoft's SharePoint software has become a hot topic for businesses looking to embrace enterprise content management (ECM), it has been stated.Bob Bueltmann, vice-president of business development and co-founder of KnowledgeLake, speaking at the AIIM Roadshow 2010, said the rapid adoption of SharePoint has taken many within the industry by surprise, as this time two or three years ago, SharePoint was not really a player in the ECM sector. He commented: "Literally it's only been the last couple of years that SharePoint has really been on the scene as an ECM solution." Mr Bueltmann added that he also remains unsure on the future of the industry, with ECM unlikely to be the same in five years' time as it is today. According to Microsoft SharePoint migration management solutions provider Metalogix Software, 79 per cent of current SharePoint users are using SharePoint 2007 and 46 per cent of current SharePoint users are planning a migration to SharePoint 2010. ![]() |
