Encryption 'a key issue for data storage'Encryption is a defining issue for data storage and should be seen as a technology that businesses cannot do without, it has been stated.Brian Chess, founder and chief scientist at Fortify Software, said using encryption software can be difficult, but it is ultimately worthwhile as it provides an unparalleled level of security for data - especially when mobile storage solutions are in use. He commented: "The direction is clear: specialised providers will eventually be able to give a better class of service [including better security] to all customers short of those with highly specialised needs." According to a study conducted by Business Week, cloud computing storage solutions have cut some companies' storage costs by as much as 20 to 25 per cent. However, it also found that many customers have misgivings over the fact they cannot find out exactly where their data is physically stored. ![]() |
