Email mismanagement 'still rife among firms'Businesses continue to mismanage emails and this is something that needs to be addressed quickly, it has been stated.Doug Miles, UK managing director at the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) Europe, speaking at the AIIM Roadshow 2010, said making changes to get a handle on email provisioning is "not a big ask", as even firms that have embraced enterprise content management often say they could be doing more to make information dissemination more straightforward and efficient. He commented: "What is the one reason you need a strategy to manage information before it's too late? It's because without one your business is going to miss out big time." According to research carried out by industry market research firm the Radicati Group, the number of business and consumer email accounts hosted in Europe, the Middle East and Africa is expected to grow from 536 million in 2010 to 641 million by 2014. It claimed that this upturn is being driven by a desire to cut costs and increase flexibility as workforces become increasingly mobile. ![]() |
